I have noticed that when highlighting text in a pad after the first 10-15 lines the CPU usage goes to 95% or higher for the "Tinypad.exe" program and the cursor movement becomes VERY slow.
It appears to be using up all the resources just for this one function.
After I stop highlighting CPU usage drops to normal levels.
The same effect is seen if highlight using the mouse or the Shift+arrow keys.
I have seen the same affect on several computers.

Is this being looked at?

Ed

Hi Ed,

TinyPad's highlighting functionality has been thoroughly tested for that matter. Please make sure you don't have applications exhausting your CPU in the background. Can you please let us know how big is the text in the pad you are facing this issue?

The CPU usage is for the "TinyPad.exe" program. I can see it in the Windows Process panel.
It has nothing to do with other applications.
It slows down every time after about 15 lines of text are highlighted.

My system is a windows xp pro with 1GB of memory.

I just tested this again on my home computer with similar results.

My home is a windows xp pro SP3 with 1 GB RAM and full Pentium 4 processor (3.0Ghz)
Nothing else running.
I use SHIFT+ARROW DOWN and start highlight text. After about 15 lines the CPU usage for TinyPad.exe goes to 52% and the highlighting of the lines slows down to almost a stop.
If I wait a couple of seconds the speed picks up and cpu usage drops and I can continue my highlighting.

I hope this helps.

Ed

Hi Ed,

if the text your are selecting has mixed formatting, this is completely normal. Every time you select new text, the toolbar updates itself to reflect your selection's formatting. For example, if you select bold text, the bold button is turned on.

We are currently looking for a way to resolve that minor issue, hopefully it will be fixed in the next version.

Thanks for pointing it out.

The text is just plain text, single font with no highlighting, all H4 size.
